Founded in 1856, the aim of the National Portrait Gallery is ‘to promote through the medium of portraits the appreciation and understanding of the men and women who have made and are making British history and culture'.
'Face To Face' is a free bi-monthly magazine to be distributed by the National Portrait Gallery at tube stations around London. Its aim is to involve the gallery more in contemporary British culture and to encourage people living and working in central London to drop in for 'bite-sized' visits.
